The FLYOVER REPEAT drills by SPEED RACERS have a new runner lately since last couple of runs.
This new runner has some inherent traits of a runner, some advantages over the other runners too.!
She is young, she is enthusiastic, she has fresh legs and sparky eyes, like just another fresher at Speed racer. What she lacks is the Red T Shirt and Endomondo.! She will get it soon i am sure.! Well she is a speed racer now.!
Now a days she has been motivating one of the Speed Racers and my very dear friend, Dr Gunjan Puri, who is recovering out of a niggle, to get into his running shoes and get out on the road even if its raining.!
Just like another beginner, she doesn't know the jargon of pace and cadence. Just another beginner her running form is not so good. She cant speed a lot, she is lanky, shaky and needs to improve a lot on the endurance part, just like my dear friend Gunjan, though being totally unlike if you compare the BMIs. (Sorry Gunjan, i am describing her as lanky, do not read between the lines.!)
But it wasn't that way earlier. In her earlier life, she was a super runner, with excellent running form and a super speed.
Earlier Life..?
Yes. Earlier life. She has had a re-birth ! She is having her second life to be a runner, thanks to a runner. A runner who may not be so good a runner, but has all the qualities to be a good runner. He may be slow, but he is gritty. He simply doesn't know to give up. Let it be running, or saving lives, helping others or doing good. Honest to the core, sharp as an eagle, humble like tree, he is my school time friend, who has been of great help through some critical times in my life, an ardent wildlife photographer, a radiologist, lovingly known as Dr GAP among his buddies.
Confused.? well the story goes like this.
There was a female stray dog who gave babies in the society campus, and as usual a few care takers liked them and majority didn't. It is where Dr Gunjan's house is, Chandramani Society on Udhna Magdalla road, near the eastern end of the Anuuvrat dwar flyover.
Just like the fate of street dogs now a days, the babies died one after another at a tender age. There was this one female puppy, who has had an injury and was sent to PRAYAS Team Rescue Center. When she returned back she was alone out of her siblings.
Dr Gunjan with his son, feeds the society dogs regularly, helped by a few neighbors. The people who feed and take care of the street dogs are important as they help the dogs get vaccinated and sterilized, so that the street dog population is controlled and the dogs become safe for humans.
Basically they are the best friends to the Men's Best friends.!
She was growing fine, and she was not running, she was flying around the whole society.!
Since she was on the mother's feed, she was due for vaccination which was planned sometime later.
One day while moving out of his home to his office, Dr Gunjan finds this little one to be dull, disoriented, and not eating well. He connects with team PRAYAS and after investigating, disturbingly the young puppy was suspected to have contracted canine distemper, a communicable viral disease among dogs. Most puppies do not survive, but due to a great help from Dr Gunjan, this puppy survived the dreaded disease.
But there was a considerable nervous system damage due to this disease and the puppy was rendered very weak, shaky and had lost partial control over the muscles and it was even difficult for her to get up and stand properly.
What i had done, was just to pass on the information to Dr Gunjan, on the possible line of treatment, with a very less hope for survival. As animal rescue organisation volunteers, we know what happens to dogs on street, and the information passed on to Dr Gunjan was suggesting a dedicated effort to take care of the dog, timely feeding and medication, which is a very difficult task to do. Only a genuine person could do it, considering the busy lives that we have today. Ask anyone experienced enough about "saving a dog that has survived the effects of Canine Distemper", and you would know, that its a tough ask, and it takes a special person.
I had forgotten about the puppy almost immediately after a couple of days on getting Dr Gunjan the possible sources and line of medication.
Dr Gunjan took pain to obtain homeopathy medicine along with immunity boosting supplements as advised from the experts and VETs from Bangalore in network with team PRAYAS and started feeding and dedicated treatment.
The recovery was slow. Dr Gunjan and his family did not loose patience nor they lost hope. They kept on helping the runner that once had an excellent running form, which now was even failing to stand on all four properly.
One fine day, in July 2017 first week, when we were exchanging thoughts on the torture of the training for Hyderabad Half Marathon that we both are going next, a super soul stirring news came in from Dr Gunjan.
The survivor puppy, now grown and had silently joined Dr Gunjan on his fresh start of running training, by joining him daily.
Puri family has named her TINGLU.
She is shy, and timid going out of the safety of the society campus, but sneaks in along with Dr Gunjan who goes for his training on flyovers.
We all at Team PRAYAS, love you Doctor Gunjan Puri, for what you do for that runner in need! You are their true friend indeed.!

This is how she was in FEB 2017

The survivor puppy, now grown and had silently joined Dr Gunjan on his fresh start of running training, by joining him daily.
Puri family has named her TINGLU.
She is shy, and timid going out of the safety of the society campus, but sneaks in along with Dr Gunjan who goes for his training on flyovers.
The Flyover repeats were becoming gruesome for Dr GAP, but he has a company that restores his hope, and faith that he is running less on recently, for the Hyderabad torture.
Here is TINGLU, friends, the runner that is showing her gratitude in her own way, joining Dr GAP for his training, running with him, fully from start to end, even on flyovers.
It is surely her connection to her savior, a true friend who saved her life, made her strong again.
Now she is in her own language of expression of gratitude, joining him, giving him company in the most difficult looking task for Dr Gunjan, now a days, to get up and train on flyover.!
Runners benefit mutually also. The shyness and fear of TINGLU has reduced as she managed to join the group run by Speed Racers, as Dr Gunjan was there. She even managed to sneak in a group selfie by the mentor, Anil Sir.! Don't you believe it ? Well see for yourself.
Runners show gratitude by helping and following the mentors, and do whatever they could for the cause of running. They help connect, they help share good information, they help improve the runners, they provide support, they teach, and handhold even, they motivate, they befriend shy runners, they safeguard those who are about to falter, they respect the greats, they care for the lesser ones. One such person that Speed-Racers look upto in Anil Sir, and what lead runners like Anil Sir look upto in Pranav Da. This happens irrespective of the names and colors on the T Shirts that the runners wear.!
What started as a volunteering experience for me at Summit Saputara in December 2015, has now slowly began to take shape as one of a prominent things in my life. I wish i could express my gratitude by doing whatever i can, to give back to this cause, a wonderful cause that has brought me to a path to health.
Gratitude, can be expressed by silently sneaking in to help the cause, by volunteering, by supporting, by joining hands, by building friendships to help others, and more so ever, following those who has taken initial first steps to start the cause.
Gratitude is expressed by what we do, not what we say. like TINGLU, who joins in Dr Gunjan for motivating him for a run, or by any other support team volunteer who tries to give back in whatever way it could be done, to the cause and to those who took pain to contribute to the movement that has been started by the early warriors, for the common good.
Let's come out and join hands to show our gratitude towards our mentors, our guides and the pioneers who started the movement, because as far as showing gratitude, the color of the T Shirt matters to the least.!
Happy running.!
We all at Team PRAYAS, love you Doctor Gunjan Puri, for what you do for that runner in need! You are their true friend indeed.!
